My 19th birthday...

Oh My Gosh!! A blog post? After how long? You though I'd given up. Stopped. Nuh-uh hunay. I'm still here. As cute and sassy as every, but also I don't think there's enough useless stuff on the internet and obviously the world would be at a loss if I were to cease leaving my online footprint EVERYWHERE. So here's a #TBT (throw back Tuesday (ain't nobody got time to wait for Thursday)).

The chronicles of my 19th birthday.....

Was the best night out I've ever had the pleasure to experience.

Everything about this evening was perfect

So, on the 16th of January we went to the cutest pub in Chelsea to have a wonderful meal. Earlier that day I went for a walk in Wembley, around the local park and it snowed

On the 17th, I spent the day with Alice and Jess, chilling. We decided a while ago we'd go out on the Saturday so I could turn 19 on the night out. I got ready and was told to be in flat 404 at 8.

I got there and everyone was there. It was so cute. I walked in to see all my best friends. They'd decorated the flat with balloons and banners. There was a beautiful cake and so many presents.

I was told to open my cards and presents and was overwhelmed at the amount of time and effort everyone had put into everything.

I almost cried so many times by just 10 o' clock.

People were in and out of the room as we pre drank together.

Then we left to go to Camden.

We got to Camden station, after Amber manages to completely smash her new iPhone 6+ screen to pieces and for some bizarre and hilarious reason slapped Jack, and Alice falls on the platform.

She's badly injured her ankle, can't move, she's crying. Another girl, who we don't know, is lying on the platform, convulsing.

Michael and Jack both help this unknown girl, get her into the recovery position and call for assistance. While I help Alice.

We get out of the station. Amber is wasted. So is Alice and now she's injured. Jess needs to take a moment to catch her thoughts, Freya is done with the evening and so is James. So we order an Uber.

The taxi arrives and we send home James, Freya, Alice and Amber.

Michael somehow convinces me to stay out and carry on the night. That leaves Michael, Jess, Hannah, Jack and I. The fabulous five. D R E A M T E A M.

We first venture into The Worlds End.

Then to The Elephants Head where we get the cutest little stamps.

Then we hit Barfly and party the night away. It was I N C R E D I B L E.

At 3 we order another Uber but it's not big enough to take us all home so me being a stubborn little princess refuses to get in and Michael playing the gentleman refuses to let me go home alone.

We spent hours that evening trying to get home. One long walk, three bus rides later and a chilly wait at Wilseden Junction, I hit my elbow on a public telephone for a taxi company.

Both our phones had died so we were in luck. This is the first time we'd both ever seen a public phone ring!

Weirdly we both had a ridiculous amount of £5 notes on us and a 10 minute taxi ride later we made it home at 6am.

That night will always be the most amazing night out of my first year. Funnily enough, the best hours of my birthday day were spent trying to get home.

It was A M A Z I N G.

There's not a single thing that happened that evening that I would change. It was P E R F E C T.

So if you enjoyed reading out my birthday adventures, and if you are an amazing person, share it, like it, tweet about it.

Also, feel free to five me a follow on instagram and twitter, @chantelle_kiran.

Until next time, remember, I've said it so it must be true....

Things I’d tell my first year self

Oh my gosh! Second year is ridiculously close. I'm actually insanely happy to be going back to uni. I feel lost without structure in my life, I don’t like not having to be places, I miss having things to do. I actually miss learning new things a LOT.

The more I reflect on first year the more I miss it. It's gone. I can’t get it back. But, I can learn from my mistakes. In all honesty I don’t regret ANYTHING from first year because at the time it's what I wanted, I enjoyed it and I soothe it all over in my head by calling it all BANTER.

But, here are some things I would tell my self a year ago:

Study hard. Make your life easier in the long run. Actually go to ALL your lectures and tutorials. I know Alan hates you, but I do genuinely think he’s secretly in love with you and when you get a first you’ll be glad he tortured you. Enjoy the times he picks on you when you’re definitely not listening because that’s the stuff that came up in the exam.

GO OUT. ALL THE TIME. Go to new places. Visit old places. Go to good places. The shitholes. Everywhere because there’s only so much time in the world and you’ll have a great time wherever you go. So go to more crappy fresher’s events, but maybe don’t get too shitfaced and miss lectures, because after all you did meet most of your best friends on your first official fresher night out.

Get to know a few promoters. Most of them are hot. Why not?

Go to more gigs. Its fun! It’s a break from the usual night out.

Uber everywhere. Always. It just makes sense.

Always take a road bottle. Night out essential.

If possible always have a bottle of vodka. You never know when you’ll randomly have a flat party. Or when you'll seriously need a drink. Life got pretty stressful sometimes....

Chill out more in a group. Have movie nights. It’s cute. How great does a pizza party sound?

Host more parties. Considering you refused to go to other people’s parties, throw your own. Also, when you do you have the most amazing time. Dictators birthdays, total winner!

Do not waste time on boys. They’ll come and go. Do not let other people be the reason you’re happy or sad. You’re at uni to meet people. But do not allow boys to be important. I mean you did pretty well, no serious attachment or upset but, just enjoy yourself. Flirt. Have fun! You won't be young forever.

Revise a little earlier. This has nothing to do with anything but your laziness. LAZY SHIT.

Jack has a really fun game on the Xbox so get him to show you that earlier. Maybe you won't be so rubbish at it if you have more practice? Hahahah, we can hope I guess......

Go out and dress up for cute dinners out. Its fun. Also you can take some super cute photos. INSTAGLAM, am I right? Also, photos to use for #tbt.

Do NOT rely on everyone else. People are flakes. Go out regardless of what everyone else are doing. Don’t let other people let you miss out.

As the great Miss Montana so accurately stated, "everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those day...."

P.S. Why was your room ALWAYS a mess? Get your shit together woman, mum isn’t there to clean up after you anymore!

P.P.S. Also maybe drop your laptop on the floor less….

I asked some of random people who have also done their first year, and here are their wise words:

Mama, I'm coming home...

Is this a serious post?

What?

I didn’t know she could do that?

Well, she is going to try….

Okay, after moving to uni, having what can only be described as a W I L D year, and then moving back home for the summer, it's been weird, to say the least.

I've lived at home with mother dearest my entire life (except like 7 months I lived with just my grandmother in India, but stories for another blog post…) so moving to halls was a whole new experience.

Managing money was a new one. Buying food. Paying for travel. Cooking for myself. Cleaning my bedroom. I kid thee not.

So I got used to be independent woman *sassy finger movement* and then came SUMMER.
We all moved home, it was the worst feeling seeing everyone leave…

But EVERYONE needed the break. I think we all were excited to go home, whilst sad to be leaving one another, but it really was time to take a break.

Moving home was exciting. Seeing my family, having REAL food, which I didn’t have to cook! (Okay, I never cooked any real food, but I was happy to not have to cook at all!)

The biggest difference between home and uni are:

At uni everyone runs at uni o'clock. No one sleeps like a normal person. Whether were in our rooms watching TV, in the kitchen eating or maybe even doing uni work *laughs hysterically* no one functions at 'normal' times. It's always time for food, especially at am. It's always time to shower, especially at 4pm, then again at 7pm and maybe again at 11pm because why not? N O T H I N G happens at set time. Unless its lecture and seminars of course! S being home I've had to either sit alone in my living room in the dark (mostly because I don’t want to move to switch the lights on) watching TV at am or go to bed and sit on my phone (well it's better to be alone on my phone in my bed than alone is a living room which other people are not living in).

F O O D. home food wins. Every time. The quality of food is just so much better. Never have I appreciated food more than when my mother is feeding me when I came back from uni. Although at uni you control your own food, you probably also live on a student budget and lifestyle. It's not the greatest thing in the world. So being home means an almost a la carte menu.

Family time. At uni this means sitting with your pals, in your living room with the light sensors covered win tin foil, all of you squashing onto your tiny sofa with tonnes of junk food. At home this means doing the same but in the comfort of your own living room and without 7 of you trying to squish onto a sofa, because let's be honest, at home we've all claimed a spot as our own and there's hell to pay when someone tries to sit in your spot.

Don't get me wrong there are soooo many other differences, but I'll be here 5ever going through those, so here's just a few....

So if you enjoyed reading that, and you've experienced the transition, or you haven't because you stayed at home for your uni life, you could share it, like it, and tweet about.

Home is wherever I'm with you...

So the end of my first year at uni came and I was time to leave our university halls. My home for my first year at uni. My first London home (independent of my mother). My little flat in the big city.

As scary as it was moving in, I couldn’t even begin to explain how exciting it was. I've loved outside of London since I was 7. So come back is pretty much all I've wanted. I've had one of the best years ever, don’t get me wrong there have been so many UPS and DOWNS, but without that my year would have been sooooo boring. I've met some cool people, some incredibly lame people, and made some F A B friends. So many lessons were learnt and a lot of realisations happened this year but I feel like I've changed for the better.

Moving home was a welcome relief, in all honesty. The last month at uni, when everyone knows it's all coming to an end, our friends from home are starting to return, our parents are expecting us back, our old schools are planning reunions, and our local clubs are holding events to get everyone back together, people started to realise that they needed to prepare for a summer without the people they’ve just spent the last 9 months seeing almost 24/7.

A lot changed over the last month of uni. I did more spontaneous things, I stopped caring about what everyone was doing as a group and decided to do things even if the others didn’t want to and I had a lot of F U N.

People broke up for the summer and people got back together. We've all done what is most convenient for ourselves.

I miss everyone a lot. A ridiculous amount. But I'm having an A M A Z I N G time at home. I'm spending tonnes of time with my best friends, were going out, staying in and just having a lot of fun. I've managed to visit my old school and actually enjoyed it. (Considering I said I never wanted to go back, I had a great time; it's nice not feeling like a child anymore!)

I think moving back is a big change, but I think it came at the right time. Everyone needs a break and I think we've all missed everyone from home. It gives us time to spend with those who matter before we have to move away again.

So if you enjoyed reading that, and you’ve moved back home or you'd like to go somewhere, anywhere or everywhere, feel free to be an angel and share it, like it, and tweet about.

G Y M....

What to do when uni is done?

What to do when you've got no life?

What to do when all you do is eat?

Join the G Y M.

So I joined the gym because I need to focus on myself. I need to get fitter for the summer. Because I need to look my best for my own benefit. No I'm not doing it to impress anyone. I'm doing it for myself.

The 3rd of June, I joined my local gym, well there's a few but I like swimming so I joined the Hilton, and signed up full of genuine excitement.

Jess and I bought some amazing shoes. Considering we don't wear anything other than heeled boots this was a m a s s i v e change for us.

Look at this bad boy. This is the closest thing to all black my local store had. They're pretty p i m p some might say.

But I'm kinda in love with my new Nike Free 5.0.

We also bought some tight fit work out pants. They're super comfy and I could happily die in them. They also make our arses look F A N T A S T I C.

So the gym is going really well. We pretty much go everyday. I actually feel awful when I can't go.

So I recommend joining a gym. Take an hour out to work out, because it actually makes me feel fabulous.

Sweating is not my thing and this was my life motto...

But now my outlook is more like...

So, if you're a motivated little nacho, and you're gonna strut your way to the gym on the way to become and even more incredible you and if you enjoyed reading this then share it, like it and tweet about.

Also follow me on twitter and instagram because I'm pretty fabulous, @chantelle_kiran.
