What’s a cheetah?

Curiosity killed the cat. Get it?

But seriously, I was curious to find out what people class as cheating. Obviously, I’m not talking about academic cheating, I’m fairly certain the majority of us have cheated on a test in school, whether that’s taking a pencil with the timetables printed on it into a maths test, or its sneaking a peak at your French oral, we’ve probably all been there. But I don’t think EVERYONE has cheated whilst in a relationship.

First, I think you can only really cheat on someone if you’re actually in a relationship. If you’re a couple. I don’t think you can cheat on someone if you’re not actually exclusive. So when I say cheating I’m talking about what would you class as cheating if you were in a relationship with someone. A monogamous relationship where it is clear you’re 110% with each other and no one else.

If you’re at that awkward stage where you’re flirting with someone casually then I wouldn’t say kissing someone else is cheating. However, if you have spoken and your intentions are that something will come from this flirting, such as a relationship, then don’t cheat.

Someone I know thinks they cheated on their now girlfriend with a friend of theirs, but I disagree.

This kid thinks he cheated on her whilst they were not together. They had broken up and weren’t talking for a while. Then they started talking and were back together but they called it off again. Then, he kissed someone and now he’s delusional enough to think he’s cheated on her.

From what I know….

They were not classing themselves as a couple. Yes, he might have started talking to her again in a romantic way, but at the time they were not an exclusive thing.

So, first I asked a bunch of ‘random’ people this question:

“What do you consider to be cheating?”

“Flirting with someone else in a serious way, being touchy with someone else, seeing someone else.” Jordan, 15 years old.

“Sleeping with someone else, kissing someone else, etc.” Alice, 20 years old.

To gain feelings for someone or to physically be involved with them, like from sexual contact. Even down to a kiss is a cheat. Messaging a girl, I don't care about as long as they are just friends with each other. Kayleigh, 19 years old.

“I think getting physically involved. GülÅŸah, 19 years old.

“Depends on their intentions.” Jess, 19 years old.

“Hmmm I think it depends, like thinking someone is cute looks wise is okay, but I wouldn't be happy if the person I was with could see themselves in a relationship with another person. Jess, 19 years old.

“Flirting with someone else. Because after that it's only a matter of time before they go and sleep with someone else. The seed had been sown.” Anissa, 19 years old.

“Emotional cheating-so like flirting, clearly having feelings for another girl or guy. Georgia, 19 years old.

“Anything, it’s not difficult to stay faithful if you really do love someone because you can’t imagine doing ANYTHING else with ANYONE else.” Jess, 64 years old.

“It’s not good, only kiss the one you love lots and lots. Luca, 5 years old.

Basically, anything can be cheating, it’s a very personal thing and its apparently subject to a lot of terms and conditions.

Then I asked, “Can you cheat on someone if you’re not mutually exclusive and you’re basically just flirting with them? Does that count as having cheated on them? If you kissed someone whilst talking to someone else in a flirty way would you have cheated on the person you’re talking to?”

“I think you've been incredibly disrespectful to that person but not necessarily cheated. If you're taking to someone and telling them that you really like them/ want more with them then just kissing someone else is a bit shit but ultimately, being single, you are free to do as you please. If you're both just being flirty and know there is nothing more there, then it must be kind of expected that you will both kiss/ like other people I suppose... Jess.

“Depends whether you were seriously flirting with the person or seriously kissing someone because you liked them. If not, and it was just as friends or it had no serious/deeper meaning then I don't think it's cheating; but if so, then it's cheating. I just think if you like someone you wouldn't kiss someone else or flirt with others just out of respect and fondness for the one you like. Jordan.

“I would say no, if you're not mutually exclusive, because you're both technically still free to see other people. But I'd still be pretty hurt if we had a thing going on and he was flirting with other girls. Georgia.

“If you’re not exclusive it's not cheating. You don't owe that person anything - you are not theirs and they are not yours.” Kayleigh.

Other things which were addressed:
To dump or not to dump? Tis the question...

Can you be in love with someone but fancy other people at the same time?

THE conversation

Well, it was interesting to read other people's views on cheating. Honestly, in the situation I'm talking about I do NOT think he cheated on her, so he needs to stop being so harsh on himself and I hope she isn't punishing the poor boy for nothing. Also from what I know, she also kissed someone when they weren't together, does that mean she cheated? Does that make them even?
All I know is that I hope these two forget all that and enjoy the time they have together. It's rare you find someone so special when you're so young, cherish it.

Also, if it feels wrong: don't do it. Or if you would be upset if the roles were reversed; don't do it.

Who knows!

Thank you to these not so random people for answering my questions. You're incredible.

The A R T of selfie taking

Here's a collection of selfie types I feel most of us are guilty of having taken.

The “duck face” selfie. I don’t think this needs an explanation. See majority of internet for examples.

The "getting ready to go out" selfie. Your makeup is on fleek, hair looking fab, your ready to show the world you don’t always live in your pyjamas, only 97% of the time. These photos are proof of the 3% you’re not in PJs.

The "drunk" selfie. Usually you find these the morning after. They’re a great way to piece together what happened. Sometimes they feature random humans, sometimes they're just blurry things and most of the time they’re just blank. You’re in a club trying to take photos, obviously clubs prioritise lighting for selfie taking. Or not.

The "squad" selfie. The team. The family. Your bros. Your hos. You all look fresh as fuck, and absolutely fabulous.

The "holiday" selfie. A selfie normally featuring breath-taking scenery usually blocked out by someone’s head or legs. Although legs do sometimes look like hot dog who are lounging by a poolside or on a beach.

The “she doesn’t know she’s in my selfie” selfie. The “stealfie” *prounounced stealthy* when you’re taking a selfie featuring another person but that person is clearly blissfully unaware you’re taking a photo.

The “does this girl ever not take photos of herself” selfie. This is usually a photo when you look cute/innocent and the other person/ animal just looks confused, or more accurately disappointed and done with you, because there you go again taking another selfie.

The “I have a bikini body” selfie. Usually a beach selfie. Looking cute as f in a bikini. People need to see this. Obviously. Duh.

The “reflective surface” selfie. Any shiny surface feat. camera = cute selfie.

The “I can be classy; I promise” selfie. Normally features a cute professional looking outfit. Alternatively, could feature a nicer/more expensive alcoholic beverage than usual.

The “bae caught me slipping” selfie. (Even more AWKWARD because we all know you don’t have a bae.) A photo of you sleeping/napping/ being unaware a photos being taken while out with a loved one.

The “I’m so over you” selfie. Usually features a new lipstick, tighter clothing, a new piercing or tattoo. Girls are pro at this; they’ll make sure you know its aimed at their ex by using something personal. Guys can be pretty good at it too, usually a photo out with the lads and probably captioned “#ladsontour”.

The “I know other boys” selfie. A girl will usually post this post breakup. She’ll be surrounded by boys, or will be kissing a guy on the cheek, or being hugged by a guy. Just so her ex knows, she KNOWS other boys. Usually unlinking message of “F**K U”.

The “fitness” selfie. Most likely doesn’t include your face, because let’s be honest that makes up the rest of your Instagram, so its normally your torso and legs looking toned.

The “out with the girls” selfie. Similar to the squad selfie. All the girls together, looking H A W T.

The “I’m a party girl” selfie. You’ve gone hard and probably not made it home. You’re probably a drunk mess when this selfie’s taken, but you look like you’re the life of the party. The original rolling stone.

The “I work” selfie. Well I need money for all these nights out, all these cute clothes and all this alcohol, right? The at work selfie lets everyone know you are party of the real world. Just your average girl. Just like everyone else.

[THIS PHOTO DOES NOT EXIST]

The “I eat healthy” selfie. Probably the only salad or healthy meal you’ve eaten all year. It usually doesn’t look appetising, probably would make a bunny pretty happy, but if you’re going to attempt to be healthy, you might as well document it.

Wait, did I say salad? Apparently, I've never taken a photo of a salad because I've obviously never eaten one....

The “I’m so hipster it hurts” selfie. Probably features new clothes. You look pretty hot. A little quirky. People should know you’re not “just like everyone else” oh no, you’re fashion forward.

The “oh so studious” selfie. I study. I have goals. I have ambition. Look at me. Don’t I look cute with glasses on? We all know this selfie is taken to prove you were studying, but no studying was ever done because what filter do you pick? Valencia?

The “I got a haircut” selfie. You’ve done it. After years of growing out your locks, avoiding the scissors, using hundreds of hair masks, you’ve taken the leap. Its done. But its pretty cute. Let the world know. Mark this momentous day in the calendar.

The “I look really hot and everyone else looks like shit” selfie. Proves you have friends. Makes you look hot. Winning all round.

The “I just chundered” selfie. This is a special one. Its usually the result of great lighting and a cute outfit. its not really planned. But we look pretty hot for people who just projectile vomited stir-fry right?

This photo was taken right after Jess and I chundered. We actually look so cute, it's crazy, but the lighting was fab so obviously we decided to take a selfie.

The "festive" selfie. It's a public holiday. Something's going down. How cute do I look dressed festival-appropriate??

The "I've done something new with myself" selfie. New makeup. Freshly painted nails. Dyed my hair. Got my weave did.

The “I need to stay relevant” selfie. My Insta feed is lack a bit of instaglam. Time for a photo to remind everyone you still exist. Usually featuring a throwback. Heaven forbid you haven’t uploaded a photo in the last 21 hours and someone think you’re dead. Gotta please your followers.

A big thank you to my best friends, who let me steal their Instagram photos (not that they were given many choices) so if you think they're as cute as I think they are give them a follow, @sunshine_1396, @itsambbs and @clarkaybooooo.

Sajna kya yeh mera pehla pehla pyaar hai?….

What does that even mean? Is that even English?

No it is not.

It means, "My darling, is this my very first love?"

So what do I know about first loves?

Absolutely nothing from personal experience.

But from observing others apparently they can be incredible or suck balls.

My advice? I have none. I am as blind as everyone else.

Indian movies have taught me it'll probably be my forever love. They're romantic, there's a lot of singing and dancing and apparently a lot of outfit and location changes.

English movies have taught me there's a lot of finding out it’s the person you 'don’t' expect it to be, still synchronised dancing, apparently I'll know all the lyrics to my loves songs, and we'll probably end up divorced or one of us will be in prison.

Obviously, all this information points to DON'T DO IT. But I guess we don’t choose it, it chooses us. "The love life chose me." I'm sure it's what all the gangstas are saying these days.

All I know is I wish everyone luck and so much happiness, remember you couldn’t be the person you are today without the people who got you there.

So if you enjoyed reading that then feel free to share it, like it, and tweet about.
